As part of a workshop on human rights and psychiatry, organised by AK Neue Psychiatrie im Bremer Westen (https://neuepsychiatrie-bremenwest.de/) und der Blaue Karawane e.V. (https://blauekarawane.de/), CICSI's Fabian Freyenhagen presented a talk on 'Autonomy, human rights, and coercion in psychiatry'. This paper critically examines theories of neoliberal socialisation. Taking Byung-chul Han's theory of ‘psychopolitics’ as an example, CICSI's Felix Yeung contends that descriptions highlighting the ‘seductive’ and ‘positive’ elements of neoliberal culture overlook the persistent disciplinary and precarising forces underpinning the neoliberal socio-economy.
